Installation of Oracle Enterprise Linux 5...


Oracle Enterprise Linux version 5 Installation

Dear Friends,

Today's Blog includes the Fresh Installation of Oracle Enterprise Linux version 5 Installation.
In few steps you will learn how to install Oracle Enterprise Linux Version 5.

For Linux Users, Oracle Enterprise Linux 5 Installation is not a big deal coz it is same as Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Installation.

Before starting this Installation Make sure that system's First Boot Device Should be CD / DVD.
If it is other than CD / DVD say HDD / Floppy Drive/ Network Drive or any other kindly change it to CD / DVD and save then exit.


Now Follow these steps:-
  1. Insert Oracle Enterprise Linux CD / DVD.
  2. Boot from the CD or DVD. At the boot screen(Screen Color Blue & Black), press the "ENTER" key.
  3. On Next Screen one Message "CD FOUND" will appear along with TWO options :-
         ----- >
    OK
         ------> SKIP.      
    Press "TAB" key to move Cursor from "Skip" to "
    OK",
    Whenever "
    OK" will highlighted press the "ENTER" key to continue.
  4. Now  "Welcome" screen will appear, click the "Next" button. New Screen will Appear.
  5. Now Select the Language, then click the "Next" button.
  6. Now Select the Keyboard settings, then click the Next" button.
  7. Now Click the "Yes" button on the Warning dialog.
  8. Now Check the "Review and modify partitioning layout" option, then click on the "Next" button (To allow the installer to automatically partition the disk).
  9. Now Click the "Yes" button if again some warning dialog appears.
  10. Now  The default partitioning scheme for your size disk will appear. Firstly: -  Edit the "/boot" partition, setting it to "150M" and "Fixed size", then click the "OK" button. Secondly: -   "/root" and "/swap" partitions are part of a volume group.  Thirdly: -  Edit the "/root" partition, setting it to "8000 MB", then click the "OK" button. Then Edit the "swap" partition, setting it to "2048M", then click the "OK" button. Furthermore, If additional swap space, simply make this partition bigger.
  11. Now click the "Next" button.
  12. Now select "GRUB Boot Loader will be installed on /dev/sda" . and Click the "Next" button.
  13. Now Configure the network interface with the apropriate settings. This can be done automatically using DHCP, or manually. and then click the "Next" Button.

  15. A new Pop up Window will appear. If you are not using DHCP, enter the appropriate IP addess and subnet mask, then click the "OK" button. If you are not using DHCP, enter the host name, gateway and DNS information, then click the "Next" button.
  16. Now Select the Country / Region by clicking on the map. Also check "System Clock uses UTC" and click on "Next" Button.
  17. Now Select the City by from map. Click on "Next" Button.
  18. Then Enter a root password for the server, then Click on "Next" Button.
  19. Now Select the "Customize now" option and the appropriate installation type and click the "Next" button.
  20. Now The "Package Group Selection" screen allows you to select the required package groups, and individual packages within the details section. When you've made your selection, click the "Next" button.
  21.  Then On the "About to Install" screen, click the "Next" button. and New Pop Up Window will Appear with options " Reboot", " Back " , " Continue". Select the "Continue" button on the "Required Install Media" screen.
  22. Further, During the installation, enter the CDs as requested.
  23. For the successful completion of this installation Click the "Reboot" button.
  24. Now one "Welcome" screen will appear, click the "Forward" button.
  25. Now Accept the license agreement and click on the "Forward" button.
  26. Firewall screen will appear, choose "Disabled" option and click the "Forward" button. Warning Screen Will Appear, Click the "Yes" button.
  27. Now SELinux screen will appear, again choose the "Disabled" option and click the "Forward " button. If Warning screen appears click the "Yes" button and go ahead.
  28. Next screen will appear Named "Kdump" , Uncheck "Enable Kdump?" and click the "Forward " button.
  29. Change the Date and Time settings if required, and click the "Forward" Button.
  30. If you don’t have  Red Hat Network account, just can pick the "No, I prefer to register at a later time" option and click the "Forward" button or if u have Red Hat Network Account then enter it here and register your system. Now Software Updation begins.
  31.  Now Create User window will appear. Create an additional user if required, and click the " Forward " button. If you don’t want to create new system user don’t add anything in “Username/ Full Name/ Password/ Confirm Password ” and click the " Forward " button.  A new Pop Up window will appear and click the "Continue" button on the resulting warning dialog.
  32. Now sound card screen will appear, click the "Forward" button.
  33. Further  "Additional CDs" screen will appear , click the "Finish" button. Pop Up Window will appear , now Click the "OK" button to reboot the system once again..
  34. Once the system has rebooted, you are presented with the login screen. Just Enter “Username”  then “password” and Press “Enter Key”.
  35. After  logged in, Desktop will Appear..
